How will you walk through the gates of Heaven?
A story by me.
It all started a little over 50 years ago. Little Davey was born to a normal mom, and dad. He
had a normal life, as years went on Davey went to school, and church just like the rest of
his friends. He graduated from High School, this is where little Davey became Dave. He got
a job, and as time went on, Dave found out he had to impress his boss if he was going to
get anywhere in the company. Now Dave was a nice guy, but he was learning to use
people, and how to play the game, make himself look good at others expense. As the
years went on, Dave wanted more, after all, he now had a wife, and child to take care of.
So Dave decided to start his own business, this is where Dave, became David. He spent a
lot of time away from home, trying his best to make his new company a success, but as we
know, that can strain a person, and their home life. He hired some people, learned how to
"do things", like living in the underground economy, stealing clients from other companies,
lying, and did I mention the secretary? This is where David becomes Mr.Williams. He was
doing it all, life was good for him, he was burning the candle at 3 ends!!!
On this beautiful day in June, David Williams was driving between his secretaries house,
and his own, when he lost control of his car, and crossed the highway right in front of a
huge truck. It was over quickly.
In the flash of a bright light, David opens his eyes, and finds himself in a strange place. No,
not a hospital, but a quiet place, very peaceful. There was a shadow in front of him, he
couldn't make out who, or what it was, but he saw, and felt something there. With that, a
voice he had never heard began to speak to him. "Hello David, Welcome". David expected
fear to over take him, but instead he felt, very calm. The voice continued, "David, you are
standing at the gates of heaven, you will be free to enter heaven, but I have one question
to ask you before you do. There is no right or wrong answer here David, no matter what
your answer is, you will still enter Heaven".
"David, there was a time early in your life when you went to church, and you learned of the
Bible. You studied it in Sunday school, so you were told about the crucifixion. Now David,
knowing that I died on the cross for your sins, so this day you could pass freely through the
gates of Heaven, why did you continue to sin, continue to do things to people that were not
right, moral, or loving. Why after knowing what I sacrificed for you, did you take advantage,
and continue to do those things?" It is now that David knows who's voice it is, and who's
shadowy figure is standing front of him. David hangs his head shamefully. He knows there
is no lie, no excuse, nothing he can say to get out of this, the voice, is the voice of
someone who knows all, sees all, remembers all. David stands there, head down, silent. In
a few seconds, that seemed like hours to David, the shadowy figure stands aside, and
David hears the voice say to him, "David you may enter Heaven, I love you". David knows
who was in front of him, who was the owner of the voice, and his silence was his answer.
So David takes his first step in Heaven, as he does he hears a loud ringing, he rolls over,
and turns off his alarm. Yes, David was sleeping, and it was all a dream, but David decides
it is time to return to Davey, the guy that didn't do all those things that were spoken about
in his dreams. The little guy that was nice to people, and cared about people. Yeah, David
changed his ways, the next time might just be for real, and David wants to hold his head
high as he passes through the gates of Heave this time.
